Radio Free Earth

Here's a kind of incredible article from the New Yorker about a tribe of people whose language doesn't seem to fit the normal mold of linguistic understanding. There's a lot of interesting features to the story. (It's lengthy, so make sure you've got time to sit and read.)

Here's an interesting article by David Byrne of the Talking Heads about what he sees as 6 alternative models for artists in the new landscape of the music business. The possibilities range from giving complete control to big businesses down to the do-it-yourself model (like the one Radio Free Earth has been pursuing).

Byrne's article is titled a "Survival Guide." He doesn't get into the art of making music. I have a theory, though, that the less business there is in music, the better the music will be.
